practically summer

Who would have guessed that we would be breaking out the wading pool and sprinkler in April?  Not me, that's for sure!  But it seemed like the right thing to do after the kids "helped" me do some gardening in 80 degree weather.  Here is a series of photos from yesterday afternoon.

We started off nice and clean, see?

Here they are gardening.  That means digging in dirt or mulch, typically.

For Tyler, gardening also means throwing dirt and sucking on the trowel, which makes him one happy little boy.

After all the gardening Claire needed to relax courtside and watch the neighbors play basketball.  That's our new hoop that Brian assembled!  The whole cul-de-sac is benefiting from his hard labor, as the purchase and assembly was basically a full day's work.

Claire was impressed with somebody's lay-up, I guess.

While his sister was cheering on the basketball players, Tyler was busy playing in the sprinkler.  He completely soaked his outfit.

So, it was a natural progression to change him and Claire into their swimsuits!

We picnicked outside too, to top it off.  Did I mention the kids slept soundly last night?

The next Julie Andrews

We need to work a bit on the lyrics but the melody is defnitely there!  "Do-re-mi" is probably her second favorite song, after "Let's go fly a kite".  I'll have to get a video of that one next time.  I apologize for the poor sound quality.  I think my finger may have been covering up the microphone on the camera!

Company!

One week sure does fly by quickly around here.  Grandma Becky and Papa Mike were in town last week and the kids loved every minute of their visit.  While they were here we visited a charming little botanic garden called Brookside Garden.  It was the perfect way to spend a gorgeous spring morning!

We were very sad to see Grandma and Papa go.  Please come visit again soon!
