Control Freak

Here's Claire playing with her remote controls. This usually entails banging them together, waving them in the air, sucking on them, and pushing buttons. She's usually entertained by them for a good 15 minutes or so.

Some 7th Month Photos

This month is going by fast! We've been busy too: Mommy started working 4 days a week, and Daddy's made some excellent progress on the bathroom remodel (tub, toilet, and sink are in!). In preparation for crawling, Claire's been working on her stability on hands and knees. It's tiring just watching her do her exercises! She's now sitting really well which is sooo nice because we can plop her down with toys and she entertains herself for a good chunk of time. She prefers our grown-up things over her toys though: remote controls, phones, keys, and paper are some of her favorite things to explore. We'll take some short videos soon and post them for you. Unfortunately most of our videos are too long to post here.

Relaxing Weekend

We had an official date night on Saturday -- our very first time leaving Claire with a babysitter who was not family! Mommy was a bit anxious but as it turned out her worries were for nothing. We went out to eat and saw a movie then rushed home to get the report. Apparently Claire went to bed early at 7:30p without a fuss, leaving her babysitter with nothing to do for 3 hours.



We've been getting into a routine of going to neighborhood parks in the evenings when things start to cool down. Claire loves the infant swings, and we take her on the slides and bouncy toys too.

Mouse Invasion

Just the other day,

A day like any day,

We got our family together, and we went outside to play,

Bright and sunny was the sky and and on a blanket we did lay,

Butterflies were flying, just like butterflies will do,

Some of them were purple, some were green, and some were blue,

After turing her attention from the yard and to the house,

Mommy felt a gentle tug, gently tugging on her blouse,

And when she looked our Claire was gone, and in her place there was a mouse!

When we came inside we got to bang upon some keys,
Instead of learning letters she was learning her C,D,E,F,G,A,B's,
She likes to make silly noises and thinks its all the rage,
And if you look really close, you'll even see her turn the page:

Tickle me Claire

We stayed cool inside the house on Sunday, napping and generally being all around lazy. It was sooo nice! Here's a video of Daddy and Claire hanging out:

Sunny day hike

We definitely did NOT pick the best time of day to hike last weekend but the golden hills were still gorgeous in the afternoon heat. We tested out the serious hiking backpack (complete with a kickstand and metal frame) and deemed it a success since Claire was lulled to sleep half way through the hike. We could definitely feel all of Claire's 16 lbs 15 oz as we carried her up the hills!



There were turkeys crossing the path when we returned to the trailhead.
